LandView 5

LandView 5 contains selected Census 2000 demographic data from Summary File 1 (SF1) and maps based on the Census 2000 TIGER/Line® files for all states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. These maps show both streets and Census 2000 legal and statistical areas (including Census 2000 Urban/Rural delineations). LandView 5 also contains recent EPA and USGS Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) data and maps.

This website is intended to provide downloading of the LandView 5 software and data for any individual state from the list below. For more detailed information on LandView 5, it's system requirements and other relevant information, please visit the U.S. Census Bureau website: http://www.census.gov/geo/landview/lv5/lv5.html

State specific versions of LandView 5 are intended to be accessed primarily from a CD. Following are instructions for creating the CD. Alternate installations are discussed in LandView Help, available from within the application.

After downloading a state specific version from the list below, "unzip" the download to an appropriate directory. Navigate to the state-named directory containing the LandView directories and files. Copy these, not the containing folder to a CD-R. Change the default volume name to read, “LV5”. An autorun program provides installation of the LandView application on your C:\ drive. The application can be started either from the CD or from a shortcut placed on the Desktop during installation.

Published in 2004, LandView 6 significantly expands Census databases and provides some update to USEPA and USGS databases. However, unlike LandView 5, it is only available in DVD format. It is a for-sale item from the Census Bureau, at http://www.census.gov/geo/landview/. Technical support from the Census Bureau is not available for applications downloaded from this site. Please refer to the contained Help files.
