LIDAR QA/QC Reports Are Available
Each LIDAR panel belongs to one of fifty-five task areas that cover the land areas of the state of Louisiana. Each task area has a review file and an appendix file which should be used as a reference for any Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) questions regarding the LIDAR data. These files are now available for downloading through the LIDAR downloader. For each individual LIDAR tile, the downloader will display a link for downloading the corresponding task area's QA/QC reports along with the links for downloading the contours, breaklines, DEM, and points for that tile. LIDAR Coverage is Complete
The remaining outstanding LIDAR panels have now been added to Atlas! This last addition of panels covers Claiborne, Franklin, Madison, Morehouse, Richland, Tensas, Union, and West Carroll Parishes plus provides some missing panels for Catahoula, Concordia, Jackson, Lincoln, and Winn Parishes. LIDAR Panels Quartered Yet Again
Deliveries of the LIDAR data to Atlas have traditionally been in quarter quadrangle (3.75-minutes latitude by 3.75-minutes longitude) format. A number of the panels in this last delivery were further subdivided into quarter-quarter quadrangles (1.875-minutes latitude by 1.875-minutes longitude) due to increased point density. In order to continue to use the same name and index as the previous LIDAR panels, all four quarters of this latest subdivision are grouped together into one Winzip archive. In other words, there are now four files that cover the normal 3.75-minute quarter quadrangle, and all four files are packaged together into the same Winzip file.

More LIDAR Available for Northern Louisiana
Another 153 panels of LIDAR data is now available for downloading. The newly added panels cover portions of Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, Jackson, Tensas, and Winn Parishes. To go to the LIDAR Downloader, click here.

LAGIS 2007 DVD Data Added to "Search Atlas"
The geospatial data layers of the LA GIS 2007 DVDs have been added to Atlas! Though "Search Atlas", a user can download any of the vector and raster data layers provided by the 2 DVD set. Searches through the "Search Atlas" page will include the data from the LAGIS2007 DVDs. By clicking "Attribute Only" and setting the collection to "LAGIS2007", a user can list those datasets specific to the DVD collection. To see the FAQ for the collection, click here. Search Atlas Page Updated
The "Search Atlas" page of Atlas has been updated. Data layers can now belong to multiple collections. Also, the previous "themes" feature has been replaced with "framework layers" as designated by the Louisiana Spatial Data Infrastructure, a far better system for categorizing the data layers. Data layers can also belong to multiple framework layers.

More LIDAR Available
Another 238 panels of LIDAR data is now available for downloading. Some of the newly added panels complete the coverage of Caldwell, De Soto, La Salle, and Sabine Parishes. Problem with Updated 1:24,000 DRGs Fixed
A problem with the URL for the updated 1:24,000 DRGs has been fixed. This problem prevented the 1:24,000 Downloader from downloading the updated DRG even though the downloader showed the DRG update available.

Holes in LIDAR Coverage Filled
Over twenty panels of LIDAR have been added to fill several "holes" in the existing LIDAR coverage fo the state. These panels include panels for the Cheniere Au Tigre, Duralde, Monroe North, and Simpson South 1:24,000 quadrangles. To go to the LIDAR Downloader, click here.

More LIDAR Available
Another 430 panels of LIDAR data is now available for downloading. This data covers much of the northwestern corner of the state including all of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, and Red River parishes. To go directly to the LIDAR downloader, click here.

2005 DOQQ Coverage Added

Another 288 LIDAR Panels Are Available

Another 899 of 2004 DOQQ Images Are Available
Most of the remaining 2004 DOQQ images have been added to Atlas! These images include the images north of 32 degrees north latitude and the images of covering most of Cameron Parish. Except for a few missing images, the coverage of the state is almost complete. The images are available in both the JPEG2000 and MrSid formats. LAGISCD version 2 supplement 2 Is Available Through "Search Atlas"
The data from the second supplement of the Louisiana GIS CD is now available on Atlas. When you use the "Search Atlas" component of Atlas to search for data, you will find the datasets returned will include feature classes from the Louisiana GIS CD version 2 supplement 2.

The 2004 DOQQ Images Are Now Available In MrSid Format
In addition to providing the 2004 DOQQ images in the JPEG2000 format, Atlas will also provide these images in the MrSid format. The DOQQ 2004 downloader has been augmented to allow the user the choice between these two image formats.

LAGISCDV2S2 Added To "Search Atlas" As A Collection
An entry for supplement 2 of the LAGISCD has been added to the list of collections on the "Search Atlas" page.

DOQQ 2004 Augmented For Downloading Both JPG2000 And MrSid Formats
The DOQQ 2004 Download allows the user to download either format for the 2004 DOQQ images.

Another 293 Panels of 2004 DOQQs Are Now Available!
Another 293 panels of 2004 DOQQ images were added to Atlas on Saturday, September 24, 2005. These panels cover most of Louisiana that falls within UTM zone 16 - the area east of 90 degrees west longitude. The eastern portions of Washington, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, Orleans, and Plaquemines are included in this area. While the images are in UTM zone 16, they have been reprojected to zone 15 coordinates in order to be consistent with the other 2004 DOQQs of the state.

Another 1,547 Panels of 2004 DOQQs Are Now Available!
Another 1,547 panels of 2004 DOQQ images were added to Atlas on Friday, July 8, 2005. These panels quadruple the number of panels previously available and give Atlas over 50% coverage of the state. This images extend 2004 DOQQ coverage from south of 32 degrees North latitude to the Gulf coast (except for Cameron Parish) and from west of 90 degrees West longitude to the Texas border. There are a few missing images from within this area, but by far, of this area is covered.

Another 129 panels of LIDAR Made Available
Another 129 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Friday, June 24, 2005. These panels cover parts of Avoyelles, Evangeline, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Landry, and West Feliciana Parishes. The contours (as shapefiles), digital elevation models, edited points, and raw points for these panels are downloadable. Plus, the contours have vertices with z values that reflect the height of the contour in meters making the contours truly 3D.

2004 DOQQ Image Processing Delayed Due to Technical Difficulties
Due to some technical difficulties, the posting of the 2004 DOQQ images onto Atlas had been delayed. These technical difficulties have been resolved. More of these images should be available on Atlas within two weeks. Keep watching Atlas as more geospatial data for Louisiana becomes available. DOQQ 2004 Images Made Available
The DOQQ images for the state are being updated! The first of 2004 DOQQ images are now available on Atlas! There are 503 quarter quadrangle panels covering the mid section of the state. See the DOQQ 2004 Downloader at http://atlas.lsu.edu/doqq2004 for an index map of the current coverage!

A downloader has been provided on Atlas for the downloading of the DOQQ 2004 images. The downloader works like most of the other downloaders.

Another 103 LIDAR Panels Made Available
Another 327 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Monday, February 21, 2005. These panels cover Lincoln and Ouachita parishes as well as a few panels for Iberville Parish. The contours (as shapefiles), digital elevation models, edited points, and raw points for these panels are downloadable. Plus, the contours have vertices with z values that reflect the height of the contour in meters making the contours truly 3D.

These panels cover Acadia, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, and Vermilion parishes as well as the northern portion of St. Martin and parts of St. Landry. Another 101 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Monday, August 2, 2004. These panels cover parts of Cameron, Iberia, Pointe Coupee, and St. Mary Parishes. The contours (as shapefiles), digital elevation models, edited points, and raw points for these panels are all downloadable.

Intermittant Downloader Problems Fixed
On Saturday, June 19 2004, software upgrades were loaded onto the server that operates the Atlas web site. These upgrades fixed a number of intermittant problems that were occurring on all of Atlas's downloaders.

Another 43 LIDAR Panels Made Available
Another 43 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Sunday, June 6, 2004. These panels cover parts of Cameron and St. Bernard Parishes. The contours (as shapefiles), digital elevation models, edited points, and raw points for these panels are all downloadable.

OGC WFS Support Added
In a test mode, Atlas has selected features available through the Open GIS Consortium (OGC) Web Feature Services (WFS). Two WFS servers are available to provide to GIS clients via the web GML data. The features for these WFS servers are from the LA GIS CD version 2, Atlas Indices, and the USSampledata. Click OGC WFS to display the Atlas FAQ for more information.

Sort-by Feature Added to Search Atlas Page
An option to sort the results of searches performed through the ""Search Atlas" Page has been added. The results can now be sorted by name, collection, geometry, feature, theme, and others.

Three Panels of LIDAR Added
The Buckeye SW and Morgan City SW SE panels were added plus the contours for the Bertrandville NE panel bringing the total number of LIDAR quarter-quad panels to 953.

Census 2000 SF3 (Long Form) Data Now Available for Downloading
Summary File 3 (SF3) data consists of 813 detailed tables of Census 2000 social, economic and housing characteristics compiled from a sample of approximately 19 million housing units (about 1 in 6 households) that received the Census 2000 long-form questionnaire. Use the new SF3 Downloader under Download Data to download SF3 table data for Louisiana in either .csv or .shp formats!

Census 2000 SF3 Downloader Available
A downloader has been provided on Atlas for the downloading of the Census 2000 SF3 (Long Form) data. The downloader, unlike the other downloaders, does not have an index map. It does allow the user to choose the geography (blockgroup, tract, parish, congressional district, or zipcode tabulation area) for which to download the summary data for SF3 tables. This downloader has the ability to "assemble" Winzip archives as on-demand at first request and stores the results for later requests.

Another 57 LIDAR Panels Made Available
Another 57 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, in addition to the 236 panels that were added two days earlier. The new panels complete the coverage of Jefferson, Lafourche, St. Charles, and Terrebonne Parishes.

Another 236 LIDAR Panels Made Available
Another 236 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Sunday, December 14, 2003. These 236 panels cover sections of Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. James, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes and include 3 panels on the edges of Rapides Parish. The contours (as shapefiles), digital elevation models, edited points, and raw points for these panels are all downloadable with the exception of the contours for the Bertrandville NE panel. The contours for this panel will be added later.

Problems with Contour Data for Calcasieu and Rapides Parishes
Due to a programming error, the shapefiles holding the LIDAR contour data for Calcasieu and Rapides Parishes were incomplete. As a result, the contour shapefiles would either fail to display or display without any attribute data attached. As of Tuesday, December 2, 2003, the contours have now been re-processed, and new shapefiles have replaced the previously incomplete files on Atlas. If you have downloaded the contour data for either of these two parishes before December 2, 2003, you should download the contour data again using the LIDAR downloader.

Another 115 LIDAR Panels Made Available
Another 115 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. These 115 panels cover most of Rapides Parish and include 3 panels at the northern edge of Calcasieu Parish. The contours (as shapefiles), digital elevation models, edited points, and raw points for these panels are all downloadable.

Coastwide 2001 Imagery Downloader Available
A downloader has been provided on Atlas for the downloading of the Coastwide 2001 imagery from the LACoast web site. The downloader provides an index map plus a search mechanism to search for frames based on frame number, roll number, or flight number.

Demographics Page Updated with Census 2000 Data
The Demographics Page, also known as the the "Discover How We Live" Page under "Explore Louisiana," has been updated with Census 2000 data.

Raw and Edited LIDAR Points Added to the LIDAR Downloader and Atlas Search Page
Both raw and edited LIDAR points can be downloaded from Atlas in addition to the DEM and contours of the LIDAR data. The LIDAR downloader will display download buttons for the point data below the DEM and contour download buttons for each quarter 7.5' quadrangle. The Atlas Search page will display items for the raw and edited point datasets when a quarter quadrangle meets the search criteria.

LIDAR Point Data Available for Downloading
LIDAR evelation data can come in different forms. Two forms, Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and contours, have been available on Atlas. These two forms were generated from elevation samples represented as point data (X, Y, and Z). This point data is known as edited or veg-off point data because it is a set of points that represent the elevations of the bare earth, ie, without vegetation, man-made structures, etc. The edited point data was itself generated from another set of points called raw or unmodified or veg-on point data. The raw points represent elevation sampling as recorded by the LIDAR device. Obstructions such as tree canopy and road overpasses will be included in this point data. Atlas now has both the raw and edited point data sets for downloading in addition to the DEM and contour forms of this data. Use the Atlas LIDAR downloader to download the point data in the same way as with the contours and DEM data.

TM 2002 and 1990 Images Added to Rasterviewer
The thematic mapper panchromatic/RGB 7,5,3 fusion image from 2002 and a thematic mapper mosaic from 1990 have been added to Rasterviewer as choices for backgrounds. These two images complement the current satellite image from 1995.

TM 2002 Images for Louisiana Available for Downloading
Thematic Mapper satellite images for 2002 are available for downloading. The images on Atlas are subsets of three large, seamless, statewide image mosaics provided by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. For more information about TM 2002 images, consult Atlas's FAQ.

ESI Data Available for Downloading
The Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) from the Louisiana portion of the Gulf-Wide Information System (GWIS) is available for downloading from Atlas. This data, available also as the Louisiana GIS CD volume 2 supplement 1, contains data that characterize coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. Marina Data Available for Downloading
The marina data from the Louisiana GIS CD version 2 supplement 1 is now available for downloading. This data gives the location and supplemental information for marinas and boat launches in southern Louisiana. The boat launch database includes public and semi-private launches. Additional information includes details about the facility including location, description, comments, launch type (ramp, lift, etc.), launch depth, available power lighting, conveniences (stores, restrooms, restaurants, etc.) and more. The marina data is divided into two parts: the location data and the images. (Warning: the images Winzip archive is over 70 MB in size.) Inshorte Lease Blocks from the Louisiana State Lands Office is available for downloading. To download the Winzip archive containing this data, click here.

Data from the Coastal Louisiana Marsh-Vegetation Types CD-ROM Made Available
The data from this CD-ROM, created by a partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey National Wetlands Research Center, the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, is avalable for downloading. The CD-ROM contains a collection of geographic and nongeographic data about coastal Louisiana marshes. Geospatial data and attributes, reports, photographs, and graphics representing 1949, 1968, 1978, 1988, and 1997 surveys are included.

Another 102 LIDAR Panels Made Available
Another 102 panels of LIDAR were added to Atlas on Sunday, January 19. These 102 panels ARE IN ADDITION TO the 105 panels made available on Tuesday, January 14. As a result, all of the Florida Parishes as well as all of Ascension and West Baton Rouge are covered.

"Search Atlas" Page Enhanced
The "Search Atlas" page has new capabilities. First, it now has an option to allow for the searching of maps and images that partially cover or overlap a selected area. Atlas will search by the footprint of the selected area and find any maps or images that touch, overlap, contain, or are contained by the target area. Second, the attribute search has been combined with the area search so that it is possible to find maps and images with user specified attributes for user specified areas. Third, "City or Town" and "Refuge or WMA" selections have been added as areas on which to search. For more information about using the overlap search, click here.

Another one hundred five (105) quarter quadrangle panels have been added to the LIDAR downloader. The panels include both the DEM for the panel as well as the two (2) foot contours.

Java Applet for Unix and Mac Users
Atlas will now download a Java applet for Unix and Mac users. With this applet, these users are able to use Atlas's interactive maps with tooltips and clickable maps. Also, Windows Netscape users will use the applet to replace the Netscape plugin. For more information, click here.

1:24,000 DRG Downloader Updated for 7.5' Updated Maps
This downloader has been modified to allow for the downloading both pre 1998 and post 1998 DRGs.

USGS 7.5' Topographic Map Updates
Updated USGS 7.5' topographic maps as DRGs stored in Geotiff files are now available through the 1:24,000 DRG Downloader. For more information, click here.

Indices that Directly Interact with Atlas Added for Downloading
Indices in both Geomedia Access warehouse form and ArcView shapefile form have been added for downloading. These indices representing parishes drawn from a 1:250,000 state map, quarter 7.5' quadrangles, 1:24,000 scale or 7.5' quadrangles, 1:100,000 scale quadrangles, and 1:250,000 scale quadrangles have attributes that give URLs to an Atlas webpage that will search for Atlas data corresponding to the area selected. Query Atlas Web Page Added
A webpage has been added to Atlas to work in conjunction with the Atlas Indices that are available for downloading.

Problems with Windows XP Service Pack RESOLVED
The problem with the ActiveX control working with Windows XP Service Pack 1 has been resolved. A new ActiveX control has been placed onto Atlas. Previous users of the control as well as new users will be asked to download the new version of the control whenever the user displays an Atlas webpage using a webmap. This download will automatically update the any older version of the control if it is present. If you are still experiencing problems with see maps on Internet Explorer, please email the webmaster.

More LIDAR Data Available

Problems with Windows XP Service Pack 1
Service Pack 1 for Windows XP prevents the ActiveCGM control from displaying the CGM files Atlas downloads to the client's browser.

Precincts for Year 2000 Downloadable
A digital precinct map for Louisiana is available for downloading. Each precinct has attributes denoting the Public Service Commission District and the Louisiana Supreme Court District to which it belongs. To download this dataset, go to "Search Atlas" and click on Area and select State. Or, just click here.

Census 2000 Downloadable
The TIGER 2000 line data has been joined to the population and housing statistics from the Census Summary Files for each county, block, block group, and tract for Louisiana and is now available for downloading. The tracts, block groups, and blocks for an individual parish are downloadable as a single download. Also, there are individual downloads for the counties, blocks, block groups, and tracts for the entire state. Use the "Search Atlas" Area search by parishes to see the Census 2000 data for any parish or by state to see the statewide files. Use the "Search Atlas" Attribute search by collections so see all Census 200 data files together or click here.

"Search for Collections" added to "Search Atlas" Page
When searching by attribute on the Search Atlas web page, the user will also have the option of search by entire collections. For example, searching on NWI will display all the NWI files in Atlas.

Contours Added to LIDAR Downloader
The LIDAR Downloader of Atlas will now allow for the downloading of contours derived from the LIDAR data as well as the DEM data. Use the downloader as normal. For each panel, there will now be a download button for DEM data AND a download button for contour data. The contour data is stored in ESRI shapefiles with Geomedia csf files added.

Control/Plugin Warning Message Added to Downloaders
Users who are having trouble downloading or installing the ActiveX control/plugin will now get an warning message with some instructions on how to install the control or plugin.

LIDAR Interface Modified to Download Contours
The LIDAR Downloader has been modified slightly. For each panel, there is now a download button for DEM data AND a download button for contour data.

GAP 1992 Data Downloadable
Atlas now has the GAP Analysis Program data for 1992 for downloading. Each downloadable Winzip archive file contains a 1:100,000 scale quadrangle for GAP data in TIF image files with Geomedia csf files added. Metadata is also included in the Winzip files.

More LiDAR DEM Panels Added
Sixty-four (64) more panels of DEM data have been added for downloading through the LiDAR downloader.

NWI 1988 Data Downloadable
Atlas now has the National Wetlands Inventory data for 1988 for downloading. Each downloadable Winzip archive file contains a 7.5' quadrangle for NWI data in ArcView shapefiles with Geomedia csf files added. The shapefiles are either UTM zone 15 or 16 coordinates. Metadata is also included in the Winzip files.

Demographics Page Added
A new application has been added under the "Explore Louisiana Digitally" section of Atlas. The Demographics Page will display thematic maps based on data from the Census Bureau, FBI, and other governmental agencies. Click http://atlas.lsu.edu/demographics

LiDAR DEM Data Now Downloadable
Atlas now has LiDAR data in digital elevation model (DEM) form downloadable for selected portions of the state. Visit http://atlas.lsu.edu/lidar to begin downloading digital elevation models created from LiDAR data. Currently, only the DEM form is available. When other forms such as contours, raw xyz points, modified xyz points, etc. become available, they will be added to the downloader.

LiDAR Downloader Added
A downloader has been added for the locating and downloading of LiDAR data for the state. The downloader at http://atlas.lsu.edu/lidar currently supports the downloading of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) form of the LiDAR data. When other forms of the LiDAR data becomes available (such as contours, raw xyz points, etc.) the downloader will show them as being available through the same interface.

Modifications Made to Downloaders
The downloaders now have options for selecting if the attrbute to search starts with OR contains OR ends with OR exactly matches the user entered search string. These options make it unnecesary for the user to enter wildcard characters for searches. Also, the apostrophe problem as been fixed. Until this update of the downloader interfaces, a string with an apostrophe (single quote) would fail.

Flora NE DOQQ fixed
The Flora NE DOQQ has been fixed and replaced. The DOQQ Downloader will download the newer image. Also, the new image can be access by clicking on Flora NE DOQQ

Rasterviewer Updated to Full DOQQ Coverage
The Rasterviewer now includes all the DOQQ images. See DOQQs for any part of the state through the Rasterviewer!

100% Coverage of the state of Louisiana by DOQQs
With the addition of the Bogalusa and Hattiesburg 100K DOQQs, Atlas now provides 100% coverage of the state by DOQQs.

New Completion Date for DOQQs
The DOQQ coverage of the state of Louisiana is scheduled to be completed by July 1, 2001. The original date for completing the DOQQ coverage of Louisiana was April 1, 2001.

Historical Parishes Added to Atlas
A tool for reviewing Louisiana parish boundaries from 1810 to 1999 has been added.

Rasterviewer Added to Atlas
The Raster Downloader section as a new tool. The Rasterviewer as been added as a way for users to see DOQQs and 7.5' DRGs before they are downloaded. It also gives the user the capability of finding desired locations by using labels from the 7.5' DRGs as they are stored in the USGS Geographic Information Names System database. Moreover, the TM image of the state is available to aid the user in finding locations in Louisiana.

DEM Downloader Added to Atlas
Atlas now has a 1:24,000 DIGITIAL ELEVATION MODEL (DEM) downloader. The downloader became available when the backup server took over for the main Atlas server. See the "Use Raster Downloader" section of Atlas to access this new downloader.

DOQQ Online Update: 15 DOQQs removed
Due to registration errors, 14 DOQQs were removed for downloading at the request of LOSCO. Also, the Addis NE DOQQ was removed due to missing image data. LOSCO and 3001, Inc. are working to fix the errors in these DOQQs. When the errors are fixed, these images will once again be available for downloading.

The fourteen DOQQs with registration problems are 3008857se, 3008858sw, 2908802nw, 2908801se, 2908802sw, 2908810nw, 2908810sw, 2908817ne, 2908817se, 2908817sw, 2908932ne, 2908932sw, 290893 ne, and 2908939nw.

Please note that the index map will show that these images are available. However, the "NOT DOWNLOADABLE" symbol will appear for each of images in the list on the left of the DOQQ downloader.

DRG Access Resumes/Trimmed 7.5' Quads Online
During the time when the 7.5' DRGs (scanned topographic maps) were not available, the trimmed versions of the DRGs were readied for downloading. These files are now accessible via the 1:24,000 Scanned Topographic Maps. These files have the margins with the marginalia trimmed away. There is only a small amount of "white space" on the edges of the maps. This space is necessary as the quads are stored in files with a raster format with is basically a matrix. Each row of the matrix must have the same number of columns whether or not there is data for these columns. However, the quads are not perfect rectangles due to the curvature of the earth. Therefore, there is a small amount of space on the edges of maps; this space is used to "square off" the map so that it fits within the matrix of the file.

The files are geotiff files. The ASCII world file (.tfw) has not been omitted since current versions of most GIS do not require it. If you need the world files for correct placement of the DRG on the earth's surface, please contact the webmaster.

DOQQ Online Update: Phase I completed
With the addition of over 200 Gulf DOQQs, all Phase 1 DOQQs are now available. The state map displayed initially by the downloader has been updated to show the newly added DOQQs.

DRG Access Suspended
Due to a security problem with the Risk web site located within the LSU Enviromental Studies Institute, Atlas does not have access to the DRGs. Access to the DRGs should be reenabled by Friday, August 28.

Map Exploration Section Added to Atlas
The home page of Atlas has changed! The "Satellite Tour" link has been replaced with link to a new map exploration page which includes the "Satellite Tour" and a new page for reviewing the various divisions of Louisiana by parishes. Also, there is a link to the DOTD Legislative Road Projects page which is great map for finding legislative districts.

Atlas Downtime
Atlas was unavailable from 6pm Friday, June 9, to 6pm Saturday, June 10, due to maintanence on the building power facilities.

Louisiana GIS CD Data Online
The data from the Louisiana GIS CD version 2 (formerly known as the Oilspill CD) is now available on Atlas. When you use the Search Atlas component to search for data for the parishes or statewide, you will find the datasets returned will include feature classes from the Louisiana GIS CD. Atlas Hardware Upgrade
As of Wednesday, May 10, the main server for Atlas is a dual Pentium III 700MHz Intergraph Server. This machine replaces the previous machine which as a dual Pentium 133MHz server. Some of you may have already used this server. Previously, it took over when the older server became swamped with too many servers.

DOQQ Online Update
Five more panels of DOQQs have been added for downloading! The DOQQs for the Biloxi, Black Bay, Gulfport, Mississippi River Delta, and North Island 100K panels have been added as a third installment. This latest installment nearly completes Phase I of DOQQ coverage for the state. Use the DOQQ raster downloader to download a .zip file containing a MrSid compressed image, an ASCII world file, and several metadata files. The state map displayed initially by the downloader has been updated to show the newly added DOQQs.

Quadrangle Links Fixed
The Saint Francisville and Fishville 7.5' quadrangles have had their links to the Risk server corrected.

Tiger 1992 Removed
The Tiger maps for the 1992 were removed from Risk server. Tiger 1994 maps in shapefile format are still available.

Atlas2 Online
A new server named Atlas2 is online. Many users may have already used Atlas2, for Atlas, when overloaded, transfers to Atlas2. Atlas2, an Intergraph IS90 dual processor server, has been running in a test mode. Shortly, it will replace the Atlas server.

Netscape Plugin Problem Resolved
Atlas was not correctly identifying MIME types for CGM files after the technical problems of February 17. The problem as been resolved. Any Netscape user still experiencing problems should dump the memory and disk caches of Netscape. If the clearing of the caches does not correct the problem, please contact the webmaster.

Atlas Technical Problems
Atlas suffered from server technical problems on Thursday, February 17. As a result, the Atlas web site was unavailable from noon Thursday to 4pm Friday, February 18. We are sorry for any inconvenence this outage may have caused.

1:250,000 DEMs added
The 1:250,000 USGS Digital Elevation Models have been added for downloading!

1:250,000 Land Use/Land Cover added
The 1:250,000 USGS Land Use/Land Cover have been added in E00 and Geomedia formats for downloading. These files use the Level 2 Classification and date from 1978.

Quadrangle Links Fixed
Links to the Alexandria East and West blocks of 1:24,000 quadrangles have been fixed. Also, links to ten of the 1:100,000 quadrangles have been fixed so that downloading is possible.

DOQQ Online Update

Atlas Search Improved!
Atlas's search mechanism has been revised to search more than one attribute at a time. Also, state and regional area searches are possible. The database for the search mechanism as been redesigned to eliminate most of the dead links.
